Day 1:  Paris for 1 night

Meet & greet private transfer from airport to hotel

Day 2:  Cognac for 2 nights

Stop in Saintes.  Explore on own this charming city with white facades and colorful tiled roofs.  The city is considered one of the architectural jewels of France.

Head off to Cognac.

Day 3:

Day at leisure to explore Cognac and have some tastings.

A city with an intriguing history. Because wine traveled poorly by sea, European merchants decided to try to distill it. In so doing they discovered “burnt wine,” now called Cognac. You will enjoy the gentle rolling countryside and the medieval part of town, with its narrow cobblestone streets.

Visit the historic homes and brandy warehouses.

After crossing the Charente River on one of Hennessy boats, you are introduced to some sophisticated techniques and a range of contemporary settings revealing the characteristics of cognac. During the tour they explain the elaboration of the cognac and the blending techniques.
Returning to the left bank of the Charente River, discovery of the History of the house. Documents, films and old objects which are part of the company’s heritage tell the story of the Founder, Richard Hennessy, an Irishman who came to France during the reign of Louis XV.


Day 4:  Ile de Re for 3 nights

Head to Ile de Re and on your way stop in

Stop in Rochefort, the town itself developed around the harbour and the associated naval buildings as a carefully planned ‘new town’, with a grid of straight streets and a large central square.

Day 6:

Explore La Rochelle

One of the most handsome of France’s ports, La Rochelle is careful to preserve its quiet charm and dignity.

Discover the old port, with its fishing boats, and its entrance guarded by two 14th-century towers.  Have a café in the nearby lively cafés.

Head to the Marais Poitevin that extend across the southern reaches of the Vendée were tamed by 12th-century monks, who created 1,450km (900 miles) of waterways.
