Day 4:

Sailing among the Icebergs

Join a day tour from Ilulissat, and see the icebergs of the Disco Bay. Every year, 24 hours a day, approximately 20 million ton of ice is streaming from the Ilulissat Glacier, into the ice fiord, Kangia. The result is gigantic icebergs, which can be several hundred meters wide and up to 100 meter high above sea level. At the entrance to ice fiord these giants are stranded and we have a unique opportunity to sail among them. This is an incredible experience you simply have to try while visiting Ilulissat in the summer.

Day 6:

Golden Circle Super Jeep & Snowmobiling Tour

Duration of tour: 10 hours

The Golden Circle tour allows visitors to get in touch with some of Iceland’s most famous and exciting natural phenomena. Our first stop is at Thingvellir National Park, which is one of Iceland’s most significant historical sites where Iceland’s first parliament was founded in the year 930 AD. From Thingvellir we head along mountain tracks toward the world-renowned geothermal area around Geysir hot spring, the one spouting hot spring on earth after which all other spouting hot springs are named. From there we continue on to Gullfoss (the Golden waterfall) where your proximity to its edge is so close you can feel the spray of the glacial water on your face. Next we kick the action into higher gear to get even closer to Iceland’s nature and go for a snowmobiling tour on Langjokull, Iceland’s second largest glacier.

Includes:  9-10 hour tour in Monster Trucks depending on weather conditions, Hotel pick up in the Greater Reykjavik area, English speaking guide, 1 hour snowmobile tour, for the snowmobile tour overall, gloves, shoe covers and helmet will also be provided.

Day 7:

Private super jeep tour Off Limits

Eyjafjallajökull volcano, Waterfalls, God of Thunder woods, River crossings

Destination of the day is Þórsmörk – English spelling Thorsmork, the “Woods of Thor the Thundergod”. It´s where the Icelanders traditionally go themselves to get away from it all. Guarding Þórsmörk nature reserve from unwanted traffic are several streams and glacial rivers cutting the rough track. Crossing requires caution. And Mountain Taxi Superjeeps of course. First highlight of the day is the powerfully beautiful Seljalandsfoss waterfall, a good 60 meters of constant rush. Conditions permitting, how about a walk around it – yes, you can go behind Seljalandsfoss. Soon after the road starts disintegrating and nature takes over your senses. Bordering Þórsmörk nature reserve to the south is the famously ash-spewing volcano Eyjafjallajökull, topped by glacial ice and snow. Amongst numerous places of interest on our route is the Gígjökull glacier lagoon which is actually off the maps now. In 2010 it disappeared under volcanic rubble in a catastrophic flood of glacial melt and debris, caused by the Eyjafjallajökull eruption. Where we go in the Þórsmörk Nature Reserve depends from day to day on weather and other conditions, but canyons, woodlands and caves are ideal settings for short walks
