SOUTHERN EUROPE
Blue is the color, from the Mediterranean shores to the Adriatic sea or the Aegean islands and the cupola roof tops of Oia to the blue water lagoons of Malta.
If you are searching for sunshine, sand, scenery, culture and delicious and healthy food, this is the destination.
Step into a world that is equal parts past and present, with antique ruins, venetian ports, medieval cities, walled cities, but also Bohemian charm and iconic windmills, and dramatic postcard-perfect white cliffs towns. Go from the Aegean sea to the glittering Adriatic coast and its charming cobblestone towns.
This is the cradle of Western civilization. Yet for those looking to venture beyond the Adriatic and Aegean, Macedonia’s rugged interior contains rewards aplenty. Excellent hiking can be had in the mountain forests, Lake Ohrid’s waters rival the clarity of Croatia’s and 500 years of Ottoman rule can be acutely felt in the capital’s bazaars. Both Montenegro and Croatia offers time-weathered monasteries, pristine natural landscapes and rustic towns oozing old-Europe charm
For foodies, try the healthy Mediterranean diet: feta, olives, yogurt, honey and red wine.
